Gear for your compressor

Air compressor replacement parts

The most common air compressor replacement parts are the pressure switch, check valve, regulator and pump ring kit. Match the symptom to the part, then match the part to your compressor's model number before ordering.

Want to understand what each part does first? See our labeled parts of an air compressor diagram, plus guides to the check valve and relief valve.

Safety: unplug the compressor and drain the tank completely before loosening any fitting. Never replace or adjust a safety relief valve with one rated for higher pressure. Leave tank damage (rust-through, dents, leaking welds) and motor wiring to a qualified technician; a damaged tank should be retired, not repaired.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the right replacement part for my compressor?

Find the model and serial number on the compressor's data plate, then match the part to that model. Pressure switches must also match the pressure range and current rating; check valves must match thread size and type.

Is it worth repairing an old air compressor?

Cheap parts like pressure switches, check valves and regulators are almost always worth replacing. A worn pump on a budget compressor may cost close to a new compressor. Any compressor with a rusted or damaged tank should be retired.
