Our take

Most quiet compressors run at low pressure. DEWALT took the other route with the DWFP55130: a 200 PSI cut-out squeezes more usable air into a 2.5-gallon tank, so you get more shots between cycles from a small, light machine.

DEWALT rates it at 71.5 dBA under ISO 3744, a standardized measurement that many quiet-compressor brands do not cite. That is louder than the 60 dB California Air Tools and Makita models, but noticeably quieter than a typical pancake.

With 3.0 SCFM at 90 PSI it handles trim and finish nailing comfortably and can keep up with light framing. Weight is about 36 lb.

Pros

  • 200 PSI max packs a lot of air into a small tank
  • Noise rated under ISO 3744
  • 3.0 SCFM at 90 PSI

Cons

  • Louder than the 60 dB quiet models
  • Hot-dog tank is less stable than a pancake

What it can run

With a 30% safety margin, 3 CFM at 90 PSI comfortably covers these tools from our list (nailers assumed at 30 shots a minute):

  • Metabo HPT NT50AE2 18-Gauge Brad Nailer (0.025 cu ft per shot)

Who it's for, and who should skip it

Best for: High-pressure trim compressor from a major tool brand.

Buy it if: you want noticeably less noise than a typical 80 dB compressor; your main jobs are nailing, inflation and blow-off; you want a pump with no oil to change; you move it around often (about 36 lb).

Skip it if: you plan to run impact wrenches, sanders or spray guns for long.

How it compares in its class

  • Ranked #12 of 12 in best quiet air compressors.
  • Quieter than 0 of the 11 other rated models in that list (it is one of the louder options).
  • 3 CFM at 90 PSI against a class median of 2.3 CFM, so above average airflow for the class.
  • Price band $150–$300; see every spec side by side in the comparison table.

Ownership tips

  • Drain the tank after each use (daily on a shop compressor) to stop rust from the inside.
  • The pump is oil-free, so there's no oil to change; keep the intake filter clean instead.
  • Plug it straight into a wall outlet and use a longer air hose instead of a long, thin extension cord.
  • Test the safety relief valve now and then by pulling its ring briefly, and never adjust or plug it.

General guidance; always follow the owner's manual. More in our maintenance checklist.
