Our take

The QT-7.5 is the 80-gallon, 7.5 HP version of Quincy's QT line. Quincy rates it at 22.6 CFM at 175 PSI, which is a demanding test point. Output at 90 PSI will be higher, but Quincy doesn't publish that figure.

It draws around 40 A on single-phase 230V and listings recommend an 80 A breaker, so get an electrician involved.

This is a strong commercial choice, but its Amazon listing has very few buyer reviews, so we place it after the Ingersoll Rand 2475N7.5.

Pros

  • 22.6 CFM at 175 PSI
  • Splash-lubricated cast-iron two-stage pump
  • Very heavy-duty construction

Cons

  • Few Amazon buyer reviews so far
  • No published 90 PSI or noise figure

What it can run

With a 30% safety margin, its 22.6 CFM rating at 175 PSI (a conservative stand-in, since output at 90 PSI is higher) comfortably covers these tools from our list (nailers assumed at 30 shots a minute):

  • Ingersoll Rand 231C 1/2" Impact Wrench (4.2 CFM average)
  • Ingersoll Rand 2235TiMAX 1/2" Impact Wrench (6 CFM average)
  • Ingersoll Rand 2135QXPA 1/2" Impact Wrench (5 CFM average)

Who it's for, and who should skip it

Best for: High-output 80-gallon rated at full pressure.

Buy it if: you run air tools for long stretches in a shop; you run impact wrenches, ratchets or spray guns in bursts.

Skip it if: you need to work indoors or near people without hearing protection; you don't have, or can't install, a 240V circuit.

How it compares in its class

  • Ranked #3 of 4 in 80 gallon.
  • No published noise rating, unlike 1 of the 4 models in that list.
  • Price band $1,500+; see every spec side by side in the comparison table.

Ownership tips

  • Drain the tank after each use (daily on a shop compressor) to stop rust from the inside.
  • Check the oil level before use and change it on the schedule in the manual, using non-detergent compressor oil.
  • Have an electrician install a dedicated 240V circuit sized to the motor, and anchor the tank on a level floor.
  • Test the safety relief valve now and then by pulling its ring briefly, and never adjust or plug it.

General guidance; always follow the owner's manual. More in our maintenance checklist.
